Vectored Photonics began operations on its lifesaving, smart-home for the elderly in 2016 with the award of a $500,000 R&D Grant from the Israel Ministry of Economics & Industry Office of the Cheif Scientist. Evan Spero, as the CEO of an OEM lighting company, foresaw the control potential of new LED technology and patented "digital" delivery LED illumination which serves as the base of the electronic butler's personalized provision of services. In a marketing based pivot, he decided to take digital lighting technology a step further and combine it with autonomous artificial-intelligence expert-systems. The patented "digital" delivery technology which serves as the base of the system technology has won R&D grants from two separate Israel Chief Scientist offices to develop the new energy delivery technology. The first grant was from the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the highly efficient optical system. The second was from the Energy Ministry for a $280,000 program with 62.5% government subsidy for developing the AI system.
Traction
Business Description: Vectored Photonics Ltd. aims to develop an enabling platform technology for the personalized contextual monitoring and control of safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient living or working environments. The disruptive cyber/physical ambient-intelligence technology, is capable of creating in essence, the “driverless” home. The company plans to initially target via B2B sales the elderly digital-health market with a professionally installed version called i-attendant™. The device’s lifesaving "killer" app offers non-contact (the senior does not need to wear anything) fall prevention and detection for the elderly and includes: automatic call captioning, an automatically operated night-light for fall prevention during mid-night excursions and a security camera add-on for fall detection. The app notifies emergency personnel and family via dual, voice and video channels if the senior does not respond. The total addressable market, TAM for the initial nursing home product - 30% of the 15,600 US homes (nonprofit ownership of the some 1.4 million occupied beds) is $467 million . The business model foresees revenue generation from the sale of hardware as well as a subscription model for elderly wellbeing and continuing care.
